How To Make A Flight Simulator Chair

13. The secret is in the mass

would not remember no shock when I learned that the Earth is round (well, spherical). I guess as I learned when I was a kid, I was caught in a time when I believed everything they told me the most.

Also, I guess it helped that he had seen pictures of other planets in the solar system and all were perfectly round. So if the Earth was a planet, then what better way round to avoid giving the note. Right?

Earth is spherical!

Although seen in historical perspective, it should not be so easy to convince children from 2000 years ago (even to 200 years ago.) They had not seen pictures of other planets like me. In fact, not even should do so immediately so that the Earth had to be a planet like the others.

Children 2000 years ago had learned to walk in a more or less flat ground, and also gave them time to learn what happens when the ground beneath their feet is not so flat, so that from then try to walk on level sites , and that are not pending.

And
I suddenly imagine how a time traveler teaches one a picture of Earth from space and says that the Earth is actually round.

But how can that be? Have you ever tried walking on a ball? The other day I hit a culetazo trying to do ... If the earth was round all day would be slipping and pegándonos culetazos.

Although this is not true if the ball is very large. It's like when we are on the road at a hairpin bend. It seems that we have to leave the car door sprint to suffer. But if the curve is smoother, even we can think of no curve, but we're going straight.

So we see the curvature of the ground because it has a very small curvature (is that the ball called Earth is very large).

But there is another problem if the Earth is round. Do not fall off the inhabitants of the other side of the planet?

Why do not we fall if the Earth is round?

things on this side of the world tend to go down, but if we were at the other end of the earth "we would fall into space? That is, how things fall up in Australia? I guess the Australians have to walk then tied to the ground to not go floating through the universe. Although thinking well, why things have to fall down?

Newton said things (apples and other fruit trees) fall down attracted by the mass of Earth. Why there is this attraction is something that Newton did not even try and explain. Simply explain that there is, period. As

be in our corner of the planet, the Earth's mass is beneath our feet, as the apple falls to the ground. And in Australia, where is the mass of Earth? For even under the feet of the Australians. So it is logical that Australians do not float to the stars and the Earth, which is under their feet, are attracted to its center.

The mass of things indicates the amount of material they have. All things attract each other and are more massive than less massive move from where they are more evident. In other words, the apple does the same force on the earth pulling her to her but to see who says the Earth that moves. But instead, the same force on the block makes it move (down) looking for his dancing partner, the Earth.

Newton's law tells us what is the magnitude of the gravitational force exerted and is rapidly decreasing as we move slightly away from the mass atractora. To give you an idea, when I kiss my wife (and I checked before write this sentence), the gravitational force exerted by his lips, being so close, is greater than that exerted by the Sun from its 150000 miles away (and let alone the rest of the stars, more distant).

Incidentally, one thing is the mass of an object and another weight. Mass (the amount of matter) is the same here or on the moon. But this mass change causes a different force on a scale if we are on the Moon or Earth. On the Moon the same object weighs less than on Earth. Curiously this

mass. We've all heard that opposites that attract. That is true in the magnets and charged particles. The positive pole tends to be with the negative and flee from their own sign. But in the case of gravitation there are no bodies with negative mass (at least not yet discovered). That is, there is no planet or star that repulse another object. Everyone tries to attract each other. Some draw a lot and others attract little, but everyone is trying to make pals and get together to go drinking. There is no mass that everyone hates and nobody wants to go bowling. Is not it nice astronomy?
